Abstract
USC researchers have developed a novel full-field OCT approach that increases imaging speed while reducing overall hardware cost by a factor of 5-10. The technique exploits recent developments in additive manufacturing of optical components and high megapixel CMOS arrays to minimize the cost while increasing imaging performance compared to the current state-of-the-art.
Benefit
• High-speed, low-cost OCT• Phase-stable, full-field imaging
• Additive manufacturing of optical components and high megapixel CMOS arrays
Market Application
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an imaging technique used widely in vision research and diagnosis. Full-field OCT is an attractive imaging solution because it captures the entire volume image with one collection. However, compared to the flying spot approach, it is severely limited by imaging speed. An improved OCT methodology would be highly desirable as it would allow for faster, less expensive medical imaging.
