2293 - Hybridoma 58-15: Monoclonal Antibodies to Cell Cycle-Related Nuclear Antigens

Description:
  • Research and diagnostic
  • Flow cytometry
  • Histopathology

Abstract

A USC researcher has generated a murine monoclonal antibody, 58-15. Since the antibody can be used in paraffin embedded tissue sections, it can identify actively cycling cells within a tissue specimen, making it a useful tool for immunopathologic studies on tissues from which prognostic information can be derived for disease states such as cancer.

Benefit

  • High specificity
  • Works on paraffin embedded tissues
  • Able to stain histopathologic tissues and flow cytometric samples
  • Able to recognize a new nuclear antigen related to cell proliferation
  • Can be used to measure the mitotic activity of cell populations within a tissue specimen

Market Application

The ability to quantitate and identify dividing cells is important in histologically-based tumor classifications. However, only a few monoclonal antibodies are presently available with the specificity to stain histopathlogical tissues and flow cytometric samples.
