Description:
- Vehicle-to-vehicle communication
- Autonomous driving
- Vehicle convoys
Abstract
USC researchers have developed a real-time multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) channel sounder to measure the vehicle-to-vehicle propagation channel. This software package and system allows for improvements in the wireless propagation mechanism and the design of wireless transceivers.
Benefit
- Accurate testing of communication channels
- Allows for improvements in transceivers
Market Application
Vehicle convoys or platoons hold a promise for significant efficiency improvements of freight and passenger transportation through better system integration. Through the use of advanced driver assistance, vehicles in a convoy can keep shorter distances from each other, thus decreasing energy consumption and traffic jams. However, reliable and low-latency communications are a vital prerequisite for such systems.
Stage of Development
- Experimentally validated
